This group project developed a product design for a hikers and campers that would offer a clean, lightweight, odorless method for packing out their food waste. Leaving a trail better than you found it is a way we can enjoy the outdoors while preserving the landscape and keeping it neat for others - but the existing options for storing food waste do not take all of these needs into consideration.    

Using the Challenge to Biology (C2B) design process, we explored how different organisms might solve problems such as avoiding contamination, limiting odors, and optimizing space to create a product design inspired by nature.
