This project aimed to address a problem among large retail chains, who often throw out much of their merchandise when things are out of season, have minor flaws or damage, or are otherwise deemed unsellable, even destroying these items to prevent anyone from salvaging them.
The solution concept was to create an app called Scavengr that could facilitate a relationship between retailers and professional "Dumpster divers" who rescue these items for repair and resale. By allowing interested parties to continue salvaging goods in a more legitimate way, it could benefit businesses by reducing their waste, potentially reducing waste removal costs, and improving their reputation, while the "Scavengrs" could benefit from an easier and safer process for procuring goods in better condition.
